overview

Building Responsibly is a business-led initiative dedicated to fostering a better working environment for workers in the engineering and construction sectors. It is led by representatives of companies operating in the sectors.

In 2020, Building Responsibly reviewed its governance structure and introduced a new Operating Charter with a three-tiered membership structure. The aim is to widen the group’s membership to smaller engineering and construction companies and to enable external stakeholders, from clients to industry association and international and civil society organizations, to formally contribute to the group’s activities. The level of rights, responsibilities and participation varies according to each membership category as follows:

  • Board Members have full voting rights and are Building Responsibly’s decision-making body. The five-person Steering Committee is made up exclusively of Board Members.

  • Associate Members participate in the group’s meetings, activities and events, and have access to its tools, but do not have voting rights.

  • Supporters can participate in selected meetings, activities and collaborative events and have access to BR tools. They are not eligible to vote.
